Copyright Policy
Last updated October 16, 2026
Draft. This policy hasn’t been reviewed by a lawyer yet and isn’t final.
QuartzDrop respects copyright and expects publishers to do the same. Our Terms of Service say publishers may only publish recordings they have the right to share. We respond to notices of claimed infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
The quick way: “Report this recording”
Every album page on quartzdrop.net has a “Report this recording” link at the bottom. Choose the copyright reason, describe the work you own, and give us an email address so we can reply. We review every report.
A report through that link is often the fastest way to reach us. If you want us to treat it as a formal DMCA notice, include everything in the list below, or send a full notice to our designated agent.
Sending a DMCA notice
Send your notice to our designated copyright agent:
Copyright Agent
Made by Windmill, LLC
7700 Northcross Dr #66035
Austin, TX 78757
(512) 761-6522
dmca@madebywindmill.com
Email is the fastest way to reach our agent.
Your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature. A typed full name works for email.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed. If there are several, a representative list is fine.
- Identification of the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it. Usually that’s the album link (quartzdrop.net/d/…) and, if it’s one track, which one.
- Your contact information: name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use isn’t authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
When we receive a valid notice, we’ll remove or disable access to the material, and let the publisher know. We’ll usually pass on a copy of the notice, including your name and contact details, so they can respond.
Please think before you send a notice. Under the DMCA (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)), anyone who knowingly makes a false claim of infringement can be liable for damages. If you aren’t sure your rights are being infringed, for example because the use might be fair use, you may want to talk to a lawyer first.
Sending a counter-notice
If your recording was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that the material was misidentified, you can send our designated agent a counter-notice. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed, and where it appeared before it was removed (the album link).
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, postal address and phone number.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Made by Windmill, LLC may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice, or their agent.
When we receive a valid counter-notice, we’ll send a copy to the person who sent the original notice. If they don’t tell us within 10 business days that they’ve filed a court action to stop the infringement, we may restore the material 10 to 14 business days after we received your counter-notice.
False counter-notices can also make you liable for damages.
Repeat infringers
We close the accounts of publishers who repeatedly infringe copyright, in appropriate circumstances. We may also remove content or close accounts based on a single serious or clear-cut infringement.
